Privacy Policy

Naguru Teenage Centre respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal data fairly, lawfully, transparently and securely. This notice explains what information we may collect through our website and related online forms, why we use it, when we share it and the choices available to you.

1. Who is responsible for your data

Naguru Teenage Centre is responsible for personal data collected through this website unless a form clearly identifies another organisation as a joint or separate controller. You can reach us using the details on our Contact Us page.

2. Information we may collect

Depending on how you use the site, we may collect: contact information such as name, email, telephone and organisation; information submitted through enquiry, event, volunteer, career, partnership, donation, complaint or feedback forms; accessibility or communication preferences you choose to provide; technical information such as IP address, browser, device, pages visited and cookie choices; payment and transaction references processed through an approved payment provider; and photographs, stories or media consent records where these are collected through a specific, explained process. We collect sensitive information only where it is necessary, proportionate, secure and supported by an appropriate lawful basis and safeguarding procedure.

3. How we use information

We may use personal data to respond to enquiries and provide requested information; manage programme, event, volunteer, recruitment, partnership or supplier processes; process donations and provide receipts; send newsletters or updates where you have subscribed or another lawful basis applies; receive and respond to complaints, safeguarding concerns and privacy requests; improve the website, understand aggregate use and maintain security; meet legal, contractual, audit, donor and safeguarding obligations; and protect the rights, safety and legitimate interests of people connected to NTC.

4. Lawful grounds

The applicable ground depends on the activity and may include consent, steps requested before or under an agreement, compliance with a legal obligation, performance of NTC's legitimate organisational functions or protection of a person's vital interests.

5. Children and young people

Because NTC works with adolescents, additional care is required. We collect only information that is necessary, explain use in age-appropriate language and apply consent, assent, parental or guardian involvement and other lawful safeguards according to the person's age, the activity and Ugandan law. Safeguarding and safety may require NTC to act on information even where confidentiality was requested. Any such decision is limited, documented and handled through approved procedures.

6. Cookies and analytics

The site may use essential cookies needed for security and functionality. Optional analytics, preference or marketing cookies operate only in accordance with the cookie choices and notices presented to users.

7. Sharing information

We may share necessary information with authorised NTC staff, programme partners, service providers, payment processors, professional advisers, regulators or public authorities. We do not sell personal data. Contracts and access controls require recipients to protect information and use it only for authorised purposes.

8. Processing outside Uganda

Some technology or service providers may process information outside Uganda. NTC assesses such arrangements and applies the safeguards, adequacy or consent requirements required by Ugandan law.

9. Security

NTC uses reasonable organisational and technical measures intended to protect personal data from loss, unauthorised access, misuse, alteration or disclosure. No online method is completely risk-free, so please avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information through ordinary forms or email.

10. Retention

We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the stated purpose, an approved retention schedule, contractual or donor requirements, safeguarding, dispute handling or legal obligations. When information is no longer required, it is securely deleted, destroyed or de-identified.

11. Your rights

Subject to Ugandan law and appropriate identity verification, you may request information about whether NTC holds your personal data, ask for access, request correction or deletion of inaccurate or unlawfully held data, object to certain processing, stop direct marketing and raise a complaint. Send a privacy request using the details on our Contact Us page. If you are dissatisfied with the response, you may contact Uganda's Personal Data Protection Office through its official channels.

12. External links

This website may link to services operated by other organisations. Their privacy practices are governed by their own notices. Review them before submitting personal data.

13. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice when our services, technology or legal obligations change. The latest version and update date will appear on this page. Material changes will be communicated appropriately.

This notice is a general policy statement and does not replace a full data inventory, retention schedule, cookie audit or legal review under Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act, Cap. 97, and its 2021 Regulations.
