Who We Are
More than 30 years of standing with young people
From a pioneering youth-friendly clinic established in 1994 to a national organisation working across health, protection, participation and livelihoods, NTC has grown by listening to young people and responding to the realities they face.
Our Story
A trusted home for young people
Naguru Teenage Centre is a Ugandan non-governmental organisation dedicated to the health, rights and livelihoods of adolescents and young people. Formerly known as Naguru Teenage Information and Health Centre, NTC began with a simple but transformative idea: young people should be able to obtain respectful, confidential and age-appropriate information and care.
Today, NTC works with communities, health facilities, government institutions, schools, youth structures, civil-society organisations and development partners. Our work combines youth-friendly service delivery, health-systems strengthening, social and behaviour change, policy advocacy, social accountability, research, digital innovation and economic empowerment.
Our goal
Adolescents and young people in Uganda are healthy, productive and empowered to lead fulfilling lives.
How we create change
- We meet young people where they are — in communities, schools, health facilities, public spaces and digital channels.
- We link demand for information and services with stronger, more responsive service-delivery systems.
- We engage parents, caregivers, cultural and religious leaders, health workers and duty-bearers because lasting change requires a supportive environment.
- We centre inclusion, safeguarding and meaningful youth participation throughout programme design and delivery.
- We use evidence, community feedback and accountability mechanisms to improve quality and influence policy.
