Strengthening Capacity for Adolescent-Centered Care
NTIHC’s model for health systems strengthening centers on creating youth-friendly health environments that are responsive, respectful, and accessible. By training healthcare providers in adolescent SRHR, equipping facilities with youth-specific spaces, and integrating adolescent health into district workplans and budgets, NTIHC enhances the quality and reach of services. This ensures that young people are met with care that understands their unique needs. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health and district leadership, NTIHC has supported capacity-building initiatives in various regions.
These efforts extend beyond infrastructure to include data systems, supervision, and community referral linkages. The creation of adolescent health focal persons within district facilities is one example of sustainable integration..The Centre also champions community-led health approaches by equipping peer educators and Village Health Teams (VHTs) to deliver SRHR services and information. This decentralized model strengthens the health system by embedding adolescent-responsive services within the community, improving trust, uptake, and long-term health outcomes.
