They Choose Better: What 50 Young People in Nabwigulu Taught Us About Trusting Youth with SRHR Information.
We arrived in Nabwigulu Sub County with a plan, a two-day, non-residential health camp designed to equip young people with age-appropriate Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) information ahead of Term One. The goal was straightforward ensure adolescents start the school term armed with knowledge to protect their health, their dignity, and their futures.
We left with something we did not fully anticipate:Â profound inspiration.
The beauty of investing in youth SRHR education is that the returns multiply. What begins as one young person making an informed choice radiates outward.
Because what stood out most was not our curriculum, our facilitators, or even our carefully designed sessions. What stood out was them the young people themselves. Their attentiveness. Their thoughtful questions. Their visible commitment to making informed, healthier choices.
They reminded us of a truth we must never forget: when young people have the right information, they choose better.
