Together with youth-led organizations and Community Development Officers (CDOs), Naguru Teenage Centre held an engaging community dialogue that brought together women, men, and young people to mobilize collective support for the abandonment of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).

The event went beyond discussion , it became a space for learning, reflection, and shared commitment. Through lively entertainment performances from local drama groups recently trained under our co-created drama series, participants witnessed the real and lasting effects of FGM on girls and women. These performances sparked open conversations and encouraged community members to question long-held beliefs and practices.

One major takeaway from the dialogue was clear: FGM remains prevalent in some areas, but many cases still go unreported due to fear, stigma, and weak referral systems. This highlighted the urgent need to strengthen community engagement and build stronger linkages between health workers, leaders, and youth advocates to ensure every case is addressed.

Ending FGM requires unity, courage, and continuous dialogue. Every conversation, performance, and commitment brings us one step closer to a community where every girl can grow free from harm.
