Together4SRHR

Together4SRHR is a UNFPA-supported initiative implemented by Naguru Teenage Centre under the 9th Country Programme, aimed at mobilising communities and institutions to prevent gender-based violence (GBV) and advance sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). The project focuses on strengthening institutional and organisational capacities to review, implement, and report on GBV and SRHR laws, policies, and standards at national and sub-national levels. Through enhanced multi-sectoral coordination, strategic social and behaviour change communication (SBCC), youth movement building, and targeted campaigns to address teenage pregnancy, the programme seeks to create sustainable systems that protect rights, improve access to services, and promote informed, healthy choices among adolescents and young people.

Implemented in districts such as Namayingo and Kamuli, Together4SRHR responds to critical challenges including high teenage pregnancy rates, HIV vulnerability, GBV, and limited access to youth-friendly SRHR services—particularly in hard-to-reach island and rural communities. The project supports functional district coordination structures such as DICAH and DACCs, strengthens peer-led outreaches, and improves linkages between communities, key populations, and health facilities. By engaging cultural, religious, and youth leaders, addressing harmful socio-cultural practices like Disco Matanga, and improving accountability and referral pathways, Naguru Teenage Centre is fostering an enabling environment where adolescents, young people, and key populations can access stigma-free, comprehensive SRHR and HIV services and exercise their rights with dignity.
