Behavioral Change & Advocacy

Changing Norms, Saving Futures
True change begins when a generation is empowered to speak, lead, and transform its world.
Social behavior change is at the core of NTIHC’s mission. Through campaigns, radio shows, school outreach, and drama, the Centre addresses deep-rooted norms that fuel teenage pregnancy, child marriage, and unsafe sex. These interventions are crafted to resonate with young people while engaging influencers and parents. NTIHC collaborates with cultural institutions, religious leaders, and community elders to create a supportive environment for behavior change.
For instance, involving Buganda Kingdom leaders in teenage pregnancy prevention efforts has helped shift mindsets across generations.Such approaches not only raise awareness but also build social capital and legitimacy around adolescent health issues, accelerating change.

Advocating with and for Youth
NTIHC amplifies youth voices through leadership development, mentorship, and advocacy training. Student councils and peer leaders are equipped to speak on platforms ranging from school boards to national policy forums, making young people part of the solution. Youth-led engagements, such as World Population Day commemorations and school dialogues, serve as powerful advocacy tools. These forums spotlight real challenges, propose solutions, and hold decision-makers accountable. By equipping adolescents to advocate for their rights, NTIHC is creating a generation that can shape healthier, more equitable futures.
