Youth Leaders Take the Lead: UNFPA–Iceland Delegation Witnesses Social Accountability in Action at Namasagali
There is a moment in every field visit when you see whether a program has truly taken root. It is not in the flip charts or the presentations. It is in who speaks and how they speak when the visitors arrive.
At Namasagali Health Centre III last week, the ones who spoke were young people.Youth leaders trained, equipped, and supported are doing the work that no external consultant can do.
We had the privilege of hosting a high-level delegation from UNFPA–Iceland, led by UNFPA Uganda Country Representative, Ms. Kristine Blokhus. The purpose: to see firsthand how the EYEUniversal SRHR Project is empowering youth leaders to drive social accountability in their own communities.
The #EYEUniversal Project is built on a simple but radical idea: young people themselves are best placed to monitor, advocate for, and improve the SRHR services they depend on.
What they witnessed was not a performance. It was proof.
